Gianni Brunelli and his wife Laura ran Osteria Le Logge, a much-loved restaurant in Siena. In 1987 Gianni bought Le Chiuse di Sotto, a small estate north of Montalcino that had once belonged to his father, and later added vineyards at Podernovone in the warmer south-east. Laura runs the estate today.

Elegant rather than heavy, with red cherry, rose petal and herbs. A classic, beautifully balanced Brunello.
